Children and Youth at St. Martin’s

Messy Church

St. Martin’s now offers Messy Church. This is an alternative service for busy families.  A fun morning for the whole family. Crafts, games, stories, music and snacks! Please check our calendar for this event.

Servers

Serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. (1Peter 4:10)

Acolytes or “servers” assist the priest during worship services by carrying the cross and torches, and preparing the altar for communion.

Serving in church is one way for young people to grow in skills, confidence, and faith. Children as young as 8 begin by carrying torches to follow the Cross during processions. As they become more experienced, they take on more prominent roles. While the focus is on young people, all ages may participate. Training is provided.

Sunday School

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children”. (Matthew 19:14)

Sunday school is an important part of our church community for children from ages 3 years old and is led by volunteers during the 10 AM Sunday service. We are committed to helping and loving all children and families to grow their faith in Jesus through Bible readings and discussions which we reinforce by arts and crafts in a fun and interactive way.  Children return to their parents just prior to communion and remain with them for the rest of the service.

All volunteers are screened according to the Diocese of Toronto policy.

Youth Events

Parishioners between the ages of 12 and 18 gather periodically with one another and with young people from neighbouring churches for fun, fellowship, Christian education, and service.
